           8. Distributive Bargaining in Negotiation – “What’s Fair?”

      CoRE™ Part B: A Mediation Process
      Prerequisites: All 10 Part A Sessions

      Part B: Tuesday-Thursday: July 21, 22, and 23

      • 9am-6pm, each day
      • 3-day Facilitative Mediation training and practice.

      Strict attendance is expected.
      Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate partial absences.

      Overall Prerequisites:
      Completion of CoRE™ or a BMT

      We are excited to invite learners who are interested in taking our Advanced Learning Pathway to becoming a volunteer mediator in our Small Claims Program.

      We are grateful for our community support that allows KCDRC to offer these trainings at no cost for 2026.

      During full-day sessions there will be a 1-hour lunch break, with shorter breaks throughout.

      Registration opens Friday, July 24, 2026 at 12pm (Noon).

      Prerequisite: A previous 40-hour BMT.

      Advanced Mediation Topics
      Prerequisites: CoRE™ or CoRE™ Orientation

      3-day Facilitative Mediation training and practice.

      • Day 1: Wednesday, August 19 – 9am-6pm
        • Topics: Observation & Debrief; Managing the Process; Caucus
      • Day 2: Wednesday, August 26 – 9am-6pm
        • Topics: Managing Emotions; Co-Mediation; Working with Interpreters
      • Day 3: Wednesday, September 2 – 9am-6pm
        • Topics: Supporting Negotiation; Agreement Writing & Durability; Shuttle

      Small Claims Program Training
      Prerequisites: Successful Completion of an Advanced Mock Mediation (Scheduled between September 2 and September 23)

      2-day Small Claims Mediation training and practice.

      • Day 1: Wednesday, September 23 – 10:30am-4pm
      • Day 2: Wednesday, September 30 – 10:30am-4pm
